Just Us

We started Just Us with Neus Gorina, Anna Campmajó, Montse Moscardó and Núria Massip in 2007. We met at Luckenbach, a bar in Cerdanyola, where we took part in a competition for the first time. We performed our first choreography as Just Us with O’Clock and to our immense surprise we came third!

The group has changed over the years (Àlex Montaner and Pere Asensi have worked with us) although Anna, Montse and Núria have always been members of Just Us! Plus, we have recently been joined by Noemí Aguilera.

After our first competition we went on to perform in other bars like Nashville, Kansas, Barn, Wild and Renegade. Some of our most successful choreographies include O’Clock (Luckenbach 2007), It Happens (Nashville 2008), París (Luckenbach 2009), Cannonball (Luckenbach 2010), Alternative (El Barn 2010), Set Back (Kansas 2011), Sweet Caroline (El Barn 2012), Scotland (Wild Bunch 2014), High Voltage (Cavaillon 2014), Baby Bang (El Barn 2014), Not Yet (Renegade 2015), Confidence (Wild Bunch 2015), Seventeen (Renegade 2016) and Lailo-là (Wild Bunch 2016). We came first in lots of different competitions with most of these choreographies!

Which of these choreographies are real favourites? Well, O’Clock is our favourite; Cannonball was the most complicated; Sweet Caroline is the one that has been most successful, and we’ve always done well with it in competitions even though we’ve often got real mad with it. Seventeen – this is our number seventeen choreography and we always perform it real fast, but maybe that’s why it always goes so well!

Country dancing for us is a fun, social place where you can lose yourself in the music and dancing and meet friends. Each song inspires you in different ways and that’s what shapes our choreographies. We all share the inspiration and then each member of the group tweaks it to make it better.

We’ve got so many stories we could tell, especially about taking part in competitions. We remember when could got the steps and rhythm right for O’Clock … we are all practising it at home …. and then when we listened to the music it seemed like it was too fast and impossible to dance to! There was nothing else to do but keep practising! We set the choreography for Alternative to Whiskey’s Gone… but then with only a week to go before the competition we found out that another group had performed to this song, so we had to find another song to suit the choreography … and that’s why we called it Alternative. Anna de Girona danced this with us because it initially seemed like Neus Gorina couldn’t do it, but in the end all five of us performed it!

Projects? From here to Hollywood! Ahahaha… we just want to keep dancing and let the world of country dancing do the rest. See you soon!
